Dr. Amanda Wetegrove-Romine

I'm a Licensed Psychologist, recovering perfectionist, and nature enthusiast. Hiking saved me after my dad’s death. Without knowing it at the time, I was developing a systematic process for quite literally walking through my grief by harnessing the mood-boosting power of nature. It ultimately led me to finding my purpose as a therapist: teaching people that the outdoors can be a complementary therapy for so many mental health issues. I educate the public on the benefits nature has on our mental health, and I'm an advocate for green space preservation.

These days I get women out of the office and onto the trail, helping them uncover their strengths and build courage and confidence. I'm passionate about helping women recover from depression, anxiety, and the effects of trauma. I also help women with issues related to perfectionism, body image, self-esteem and self-worth, as well as sleep problems.

I believe that being outside can teach us how to slow down, practice progress over perfection, and not take ourselves so seriously. Nature brings out strengths we didn’t even know we had. I’ll guide you in getting to know yourself in a new light, rediscovering the playful parts of yourself and the values that make you YOU.

Compassion

Many high-achieving women worry that if they’re kind towards themselves they’ll lose their ambitious drive and edge. On the contrary, by building self-compassion we can engage in real and lasting change, because it comes from a place of worthiness instead of critical self-judgment.

Confidence

I’ll help you harness your strengths, set healthy boundaries, and prioritize your values over busy work. You’ll have more time to pursue what’s important to you, like dating, improving family relationships, carving out time for self-care, and becoming a more engaged parent and partner.

How it Works

Through a unique blend of talk therapy and nature exploration, clients find a pace that’s sustainable without sacrificing the important parts of their lives. I work with clients located in San Antonio and offer virtual therapy to clients across Texas.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical care will cost under the No Surprises Act. Under U.S. law, healthcare providers must give patients an estimate of their bill for all medical items and services. I am transparent with rates and charge $165 per session. I will discuss an initial treatment plan, providing recommended session frequency. We will also revisit your ongoing session needs throughout treatment. You will confirm and consent to only one session at a time, which we will schedule at the end of each session. This means you will never be “surprised” or receive additional services/fees that you have not agreed to.
